Not for the Faint of Heart
This international adoption thing is not for the faint of heart. Tonight we heard that there are people here working hard for us and that by next Wednesday or Thursday, we should know more. We discussed heading home to come back at a later time, but were asked to "hang in there". This is the hardest part of the process and going home to return at a later time would jeopardize our chances. Therefore we will stick it out and drive through our worst case timing scenario. The worst case scenario means getting through the court date in mid April, Lara going home to conserve leave time before Scott, and Scott staying in the Ukraine to finalize the process. Our hopes and dreams lay in the hands of others and to fate in the next week. We are unable to sleep, unable to fathom the consequences of this decision other than to hope that the best in human nature holds victorious and people do what is truly best for these children. God help us.

Scott and Lara, I am really praying that things work out. I can only imagine how difficult this is- but there are loads of people back in MN who are following your experiences and are wishing the best. Dana
Hey guys-
Hang in there - keep up the exploring and try to have some fun. Take a day trip into the countryside? I know sitting around waiting for the phone to ring is enough to drive anyone nuts and it sounds like it'll be a few days before you hear anything more. Glad you've got a laptop and glad you've got this blog!
We love you!!!

Hi Scott and Lara,
I'm a "virgin" blogger and naively typed a long message to you only to be prompted for an identity which of course I wasn't prepared for and as a result, lost the entire half hour's worth of rather compelling stories!!
This is exactly why I prefer texting; however, just as I have become the texting queen, the "hip" community as moved into blogging! I need to stay on top of the technlogy curve.
Anyway, now that I know how to reach you, you will be hearing from me more often. Meanwhile, hang in there, you are such an inspiration for staying committed to the adoption process despite the challenges you have faced. Stay strong, we miss you here and we will continue pryaing for you.
Take Care,
Susan
Thank you guys for the messages. Getting them this morning (Saturday) helped after a rough night.
Love
Scott and Lara
It's maddening to have to wait, knowing that there is little you can do to affect things further. Even though your sightseeing posts are interesting, it must be difficult to get into a tourist mentality, knowing the reason why you are there. Your are very close to the goal of a very long journey-- both physically and emotionally-- and after all the work, decision making, joy and heartache that brought you this far, you now are forced to trust others to navigate the way ahead. This is the place that faith is possible.
Remember, when you are back home with your child, telling stories about the trip and how you found him/her, it won't be the things that went smooth, but the adversity you overcame, that will make the story a fascinating memory for years to come. You are making family history.
Love, Chris and Carole
We are checking in regularly.. and thinking of you each day. Sorry to hear its been the challenge you expected it to be... but you sound like you are really sticking in their together.
As everyone has said - let us know if there is any support we can provide from here.
We are praying for all the best for you.
Beth and Jeff
Scott and Lara:
I've been reading your blogs weekly, but have hesitated to post a blog comment, as I have no idea what I'm doing right now. I hope this actually gets to you.
Hang in there! Our thoughts are with you. All of us back here in MN reading your posts can't really appreciate what you are going through, but we are confident you will be rewarded for your perseverance in the end.
Take care and all the best,
Mike M.
